Women drivers are being urged to be on their guard as they venture across the Midlands hunting for bargains in the sales.
An independent road safety organisation has called for lone women motorists to take extra care against opportunist thieves. The Guild of Experienced Motorists has produced a booklet for the festive Pandora Bracelet Charm and post-Christmas season suggesting precautions that women can take to avoid dangerous situations.
Brass Pendant It includes tips like keeping doors locked while driving through Birmingham and nearby towns and cities and never placing handbags on the empty passenger seat.
The leaflet, called The Safety ofWomen Behind the Wheel, also advises women not to leave behind any belongings which identify them as female when the car is parked.

Maureen Emms, Midland spokeswoman for the GEM, said women drivers were a key target for would-be thieves or attackers and New Year was prime time for the criminals to strike.
