MARK Hancock, the former chief executive of Scottish property firm Kilmartin Group, has launched Talisman Capital, backed by a number of wealthy investors.

He has been working on plans to capitalise on the opportunities created by the current weakness in the UK property market. He has set up Talisman Capital with Adam Kerr, with whom he established Amerdale, a privately-funded development and investment company in 2004.
Over the following three years, Amerdale built a GBP 100 million portfolio, spread across the UK, Germany and China. Hancock structured and completed the sale of the company in August 2007 to Kilmartin.
pandora beadsHe previously held roles as a main board director at Teesland Group, as a senior fund manager for the Mercury property fund at Mercury Asset Management and as an investment surveyor for Strutt & Parker in London.
Kerr was investment officer for the GBP 1.3 billion Merrill Lynch property fund at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and was a director of Melford Securities. He was the founding Partner for Knight Frank & Rutley's office in Francistown, Botswana, and an investment surveyor for Healey & Baker in London.
Hancock and Kerr have been joined by another former Kilmartin executive, Frank Gillespie, who was development director. He and Stephen McBride, formerly of Teesland, join as executive directors.
tag heuer replicaDavid Hood, who has invested in commercial property through Amerdale since 2005, becomes non-executive chairman. In 1982 he founded Pace Micro Technology, now the world's third-largest set-top box company with more than 1,000 employees and a market capitalisation of over GBP 650m.
Chris Jolly, who retired from Merrill Lynch early in 2009, where he was responsible for the bank's property investment banking team in the UK, completes the team as a non-executive director.
